Information for parents and carers

Woodlawn Parents & Friends Association

Woodlawn is fortunate to have an active and enthusiastic group who organise and fund social and educational events, as well as purchasing additional equipment for the pupils at Woodlawn. Our two main fundraising events are a Summer Fair and the Boxing Day Pudding Run.

Woodlawn Parents & Friends Association (WPFA) meets regularly and is a highly valued part of our school community. We are keen to welcome new parents to support the group.

If you wish to contact the WPFA, please email woodlawn.school@northtyneside.gov.uk

Parent Governor

Parent Governors are elected by parents of the school and well placed to understand parents' views and to remind the governing body how matters being discussed affect parents as well as being in a good position to help the governing body to communicate effectively with parents.

Parent Governors have a very privileged and responsible role. They have the opportunity to make a difference, not only for current pupils but for children in years to come and for other parents, influencing the way in which school works with them.

Parent governors are elected for a term of four years and form part of a larger Governing Body. We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor, if one of our parents would be interested in taking up a position, please contact the school office or email: woodlawn.school@northtyneside.gov.uk

Your current Woodlawn Parent Governor Mrs Justine Little, Parents & Carers of Woodlawn can contact Justine via
Justine.Little@northtyneside.gov.uk or all governors via the school office. Any calls will be returned within 24 hours.
(See Governors in About section of Website)

Parent Governor Representative

Local authority PGRs are a relatively new addition to government in England. The role was first introduced in The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 as a way of ensuring that parents of children at schools within the area of the local authority have an apolitical voice on local education matters and can hold the authority to account for education policy and decision - making. It is an important distinction to note that although elected by parent governors, the role is to present parents. North Tyneside Council has 2 elected PGRs.

Justine Little is an elected Parent Governor Representative for North Tyneside Council. Justine can be contacted via the school office or email justinevlittle@hotmail.com
